Born into greatness, then caught the singing bug at 16 months old. Art Jr. almost - innocently - sailed into the family business, making his stage debut at 16 months in Osaka, Japan, when his celebrated father and mother carried their kimono-clad firstborn onto the stage and presented it to an eager-eyed toddler before an ecstatic one Audience. This spontaneous expression of parental pride established a 30-year family tradition, as Art Jr. spent much of his childhood and early adulthood alongside his father on stages across the United States and around the world. Despite his youth, Art Jr. sang background for his father and often played three or four solos.

He explains: "When I was 4, my dad gave me his favorite mixtapes of oldies like the Everly Brothers tunes and songs from the doo-wop era, songs he had heard as a teenager." My dad gave me also mixtapes of the Great American Songbook. And just like him, I listened to these tapes over and over again. I ended up loving these songs as much as he did. I sang some of these songs on his show as a child. I always did two or three duets with my father, sometimes more.”

During the 1990s and the early years of Art Garfunkel Jr, the Garfunkel family toured throughout Europe, whether for performances or for family vacations. (In fact, Art Sr.'s parents had emigrated to the United States from Eastern Europe, settling first in Brooklyn and then in Queens, N.Y.) It was only natural that a love for these German-speaking countries - their language, their culture, and especially her people – have taken firm roots in Art Jr.

At the end of 2006, after attending the Rudolf Steiner School in New York, where he learned German and not yet 17 years old, Art Jr. was ready to embark on the open-ended adventure of his life. With his parents' blessing, the aspiring solo artist settled in Berlin, sometimes staying with relatives nearby, and set about planning his own musical odyssey while mastering not only German but also Russian. He continues to study foreign languages.

What sets Art Garfunkel Jr. apart from other artists?

Art Jr.'s voice has the same ethereal quality as his father's exceptional countertenor. Some describe the younger Garfunkel's voice as "angelic with soothing yet powerful overtones that grab the listener's heart." There is a warmth to each of his performances, and then there is his winning smile.

“My music goes in different directions because I can do different things with my voice,” explains Art Jr.. “I'm a crooner and entertainer in the style of Harry Connick Jr., Michael Bublé and Frank Sinatra. In Germany I do the same thing, but there I incorporate elements of Schlager, which is essentially German folk music, but which I prefer to describe as “folk meets disco” or, as I call it for short, “disco-folk”. “The German audience really likes my hit version of ‘Cecilia’,” he says, referring to Simon & Garfunkel’s 1970 mega-hit about a willful, stubborn girlfriend.

A highly acclaimed singer in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Art Jr. has a loyal fan base in Germany, particularly in the east of the country, particularly in small towns and rural areas where residents only speak German. “My German fans are grateful that I open the door to all this beloved music that I sing in lyrics they can understand. I play the music that people want to hear, which happens to be the music and songs that I like to perform.”

After Art Jr.'s August 2023 performance at the City Winery nightclub in New York City, Paul Shaffer, the acclaimed musician and former bandleader of The Late Show with David Letterman, commented: "One night in a club in New York, I saw Art Garfunkel Jr. do magic. He took the hymns of my generation, the repertoire of Simon and Garfunkel, and gave the songs a whole new meaning, giving them a wild, youthful urgency. Presto! You were relevant again!”

A debut album that is also a loving greeting.

In October 2021, Art Jr. released his debut album – a tribute album titled Like You – Tribute to My Father”. The album, sung entirely in German, contains hits by Simon & Garfunkel and includes duets with Art Garfunkel Sr. as well as duets with various well-known German singers, including Marianne Rosenberg. Each song is Art Jr.'s loving greeting to his father.

In 2022, Art Garfunkel Jr released a second edition of How You Homage to My Father, which contained both the well-known duets from How You Pay Homage to My Father, as well as remixes, new duets and songs.

After the success of his first album, he released his 2nd studio album in 2023:

Evergreen, this contains both solo tracks and duets with his father Art Garfunkel.

In Evergreen he dedicates himself to well-known pieces from the 1960s, which he sang in a modern style and, as on his first studio album, in German and English.

It can be seen as a unique selling point in the hit world that he publishes his songs in a mixture of German and English passages.

He also continues the tradition of the classic hit in a modern style without completely losing sight of the original or setting it to music in a completely different way.

The very first father - son album will be released in November 2024.

Father and Son.

A very personal album that completely reflects Art Garfunkel Jr and Art Garfunkel:

They are not just father and son

Both love to sing and to express our emotions, thoughts and attitude to life through our music.

This album reflects all of this not only in terms of the release dates of the original tracks, but also through the choice of tracks.
